12 SEPTEMBER 2009 - HERITAGE OPEN DAY AT THE ROYAL GREEN JACKETS MUSEUM

Peninsula Barracks travelled back in time last weekend when the Rifles Living History Society visited Winchester. The Society, dressed as World War One Riflemen, gave demonstrations of marching and use of equipment to the visitors of The Royal Green Jackets (Rifles) Museum.

The visitors also enjoyed free admission to the Museum where the temporary exhibition ‘The Conquest of Canada, 1758-60 & The Battle of Quebec, 1759’ is currently on display. The Society was invited to the Museum by the Curator Mrs Christine Pullen as part of the Heritage Open Days 2009. Heritage Open days provide the opportunity once a year to visit properties that are normally closed to the public or charge for admission.
